Few places on Earth capture the imagination like the Serengeti. Stretching across endless horizons, this iconic landscape is home to one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on the planet. From massive herds of wildebeest and zebra moving across the plains to elephants, lions, and hundreds of bird species thriving throughout the region, the Serengeti offers a rare opportunity to witness nature at an extraordinary scale.
The Serengeti is just as captivating above the plains as it is across them. More than 540 bird species have been recorded throughout the ecosystem, making Tanzania one of Africa's premier birding destinations.
Keep an eye out for:
Secretary Birds (pictured to the left) stalking through the grasslands in search of prey.
Fischer's Lovebirds, known for their vibrant green, yellow, and orange plumage.
Schalow's Turacos, striking birds recognized by their brilliant green feathers.
Kori Bustards, among the heaviest flying birds in the world.
Ostriches and vultures, commonly seen across the open savanna.
